The boys have, for the most part, developed motor skill-wise in tandem. Usually (but not always), Sebastian does something first.
He put food in his own mouth first and was followed by Nicholas shortly thereafter. He dragged himself across the floor like a wounded soldier first and was followed by Nicholas shortly thereafter. He pulled himself up to a standing position first and has yet to be followed by Nicholas… but it’s around the corner; we can just feel it.
Anyway.
Yesterday was Wednesday and, as every Wednesday, Maria had the boys for the day. Javier’s mum, Carmen, is visiting this week so we decided to make an “adult” day of it and go to Napa. It was a lovely day and we did all the wine tasting and fine dining that one can reasonably pack into a weekday before returning home at 5 p.m..
After we got home, Maria left and we sat on the floor with the boys just horsing around when, like nothing, the boys BOTH up and crawled!!! Not their usual wounded soldier stuff. They weren’t dragging their little bodies along the floor. They were getting on their hands and knees and cruising along like never before. Like babies in television commercials or something. They both did it AT THE SAME TIME, FOR THE FIRST TIME. It was just amazing.
We’re now wondering if there’s some crazy crawling school that Maria didn’t tell us about because the nature of this mutual milestone is almost too coincidental to believe.
UPDATE: Today, Nicholas is clearly surpassing Sebastian in this new skill. The latter seems to have forgotten about it completely while Nicholas is bookin’ everywhere.
Stay tuned for video(s).
