Sweet Extract

6 months today! I can’t believe it’s been half a year. To celebrate, the boys slept ’til 8 a.m. this morning and then napped from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. WOW.

I was looking at photos of them last night from the past six months. They were SOOO little. I’d already forgotten how very small they were. It makes my heart ache a little bit that this will soon all be a blur and there’s not a damn thing I can do to make it slow down.

They’ve almost doubled in weight since this photo was taken.

They really are amazingly different people. And they seem more so every day.

The videos belie this but Sebastian is the extrovert. He is a big flirt. With EVERYONE. He seemingly can’t stop himself from smiling when he’s smiled at.

And he’s wiggly. He turns from back to belly and back again with total ease. He’ll be crawling over his brother to grab all the toys any day now.

Nicholas is more reserved. Occasions like in the video, where he’s laughing like a nut, are rare. He smiles easily for us but he’s more guarded than his brother when it comes to strangers.

He’s a patient kid. He’ll lie on his back for a long time before he gets antsy. You can’t help but wonder what he’s thinking about that keeps him so occupied.

And he loooves sweet potatoes. Oh, and he stares at everything we eat and drink. He’ll be reaching for our food soon, I’m sure.

The other thing I’m sure of is that all of this will change. Just when I think I’ve got them figured out, they always switch things up on me. 

I love them. I love watching them become themselves. It’s going too fast but I just can’t wait to see what comes next.
