Sorry for the lack of posting. I’ve been kinda crazy busy plus the lack of sleep has KICKED MY BUTT!
Sick babies have made for a sick mama.
Anyway, little updates are better than no updates so here are some things that are happening:
1) The boys have had their first taste of veggies. The orange veggies: carrots and sweet potatoes. The carrots were received with modest enthusiasm but the sweet potatoes? Whoa. Sweet potatoes are DA BOMB! Nicholas ate a whole jar in one sitting. And Sebastian almost matched him. So much for slowly introducing new flavours.
2) Sebastian is now sleeping the night in a crib in the nursery (as opposed to the co-sleeper next to our bed). We had always planned to move both boys to the nursery for the night after the Florida trip. We reasoned that if they can sleep in a crib there, surely they can manage it here. We’ve held Nicholas back though because his cough was keeping them both up. He’s still with us in our bedroom until he gets better (or Sebastian catches the cold too).
3) Last night was brutal with both of them waking for long stretches (and at the same time to boot) BUT Sebastian went the ENTIRE night without feeding. He went for a full 11 hours! I’m hopeful that we can squeeze some more long nights out of them soon because…
4) They’ll be six months old in a few days. ACK! OOOOP! OMG!
5) The green card process is coming along nicely (as far as we can tell). But here’s an amusing twist: I may have to get a bunch of vaccines to be an “approved” alien. There’s a list of required vaccinations for immigrants and while I’ve probably had most of them, I may need boosters etc. I’ll have to get tested to be sure because it’s safe to assume that my childhood vaccine papers are probably filed away with my kindergarten report card under “Leconte” in a landfill in Switzerland or St. Louis. Anyway, it’s amusing to me that I may have to get jabbed with needles at the same time as my boys. I wonder if I’ll get a SpongeBob Square Pants band aid too.
6) Sebastian has learned to suck his thumb in the past week. Here’s hoping it will bring about the obsolescence of his pacifier. One less thing for me to forget when we leave the house.
7) This topic is worthy of a separate post but, in short, they’ve taken to formula well. That’s bittersweet progress from my perspective. On the one hand it makes things so much more convenient but on the other, it’s a big milestone on the road to “who needs that old broad anyway?!”. Silly, I know, but it has sentimental consequences for me.
Awrighty, that’s it for now. They’re napping and if I don’t take my shower now, I won’t take a shower today. Again.
